Fifth-wheel trailers have always occupied a unique place in the RV market. Spacious and stylish, these models combine the size and luxury of a Class A motorhome with the convenience of a smaller travel trailer. This makes the large towables an excellent option for families, full-time RVers, or anyone looking for a comfortable camping experience.

As with other types of RVs, there are literally dozens of fifth-wheel models to choose from. Most range in length from 25-45 feet, with the average model coming in at about 32 feet. This gives owners plenty of space for not only bringing friends and family along on camping trips but all of the outdoor gear, food and beverages, and other equipment you’ll need at the campsite.

But with so many fifth-wheel options to choose from, which models stand out in terms of features, amenities, and build quality? We’ve survey the current RV landscape and came up with a list of recommendations to help you find one that meets your personal needs. These are our picks for the best fifth-wheel trailers for 2026.

What is a Fifth-Wheel Trailer?

A fifth-wheel trailer is an RV that uses a special hitch coupled to the bed of a pick-up truck rather than the rear of the tow vehicle. Because they are bigger and heavier than standard travel trailers, most fifth-wheels require a one-ton truck or larger for safe towing. But this type of hitch provides more stability and reduces sway, especially when traveling at highway speeds.

Fifth-wheel trailers tend to offer spacious floorplans with large kitchens, multiple sleeping areas, expansive bathrooms, and other luxurious amenities. Most can comfortably accommodate six to eight people, with plenty of onboard cargo space for gear and supplies. This makes them popular options for long-distance road trips, extended camping excursions, remote workers, full-timers, and even boondocking.

As with smaller travel trailers, fifth-wheels can be parked at a campsite freeing up the tow vehicle for other activities. This eliminates the need for a dinghy and makes running errands or exploring a new destination easier and safer than driving around in a large motorhome.
