Weighing in at 4,534 pounds and stretching 22.5 feet in length, the Heartland Mallard is proof that a lightweight travel trailer can be comfortable and spacious. This innovative towable is bright and airy inside, and as you’ll see in the video above, it manages to pack a surprising number of features into a well-designed floorplan.

The YouTube clip takes us on an extensive tour of the Mallard M283RK model. This particular floorplan includes a residential-style kitchen complete with a large island countertop. The trailer’s decor mimics an urban cottage, with wood-grain vinyl flooring, plenty of cupboards and drawers, and a plethora of windows that provide lots of natural light. Appliances include a three-burner stove with an exhaust hood, a microwave oven, a deep sink with a high-rise faucet, and a double-door fridge.

The Mallard’s voluminous interior comes courtesy of dual opposing slide-outs, which nicely open up the space. This allows for a large dinette area—with seating for four—that converts to a guest bed when needed. Nearby is an open lounge space with comfortable-looking seats facing the onboard entertainment center with room for an optional 40” TV.

The tour continues into a bathroom with a large shower and mirrored medicine cabinet before proceeding down the hall into the primary bedroom. There, you’ll find a queen-size bed surrounded by wardrobes, shelves, and storage drawers.

Other features include a built-in coat rack, an outdoor grill station, and a massive pass-through storage compartment with magnetic door catches. A power tongue jack, dual 20-pound propane hookups, and solar prep come standard. The Mallard also has a fully enclosed, insulated, and heated underbelly, making it a solid option for extended-season camping.

It’s one thing to list a bunch of specs and features and another to see them for yourself. Check out the video above to get the complete walkthrough, giving you a better sense of the layout of this travel trailer. Be sure to take note of the high-quality materials and construction methods that went into making the Mallard a top-notch lightweight RV.
