YouTube is littered with videos spotlighting custom camper vans and swanky Class A motor coaches, some of which we routinely share here at RV.com. It isn’t often that we come across an impressive Class C conversion, however, which makes the video all the more special. It takes us on a full tour of a newly completed model put together by the talented team at Performance Motorcoaches. You’ll see a vehicle built to survive the apocalypse on the outside, with an interior that has all the comforts of home.
Built on an International HV507 chassis, this Class C model was given a makeover that makes it look like an RV built for the military. The rig is powered by an 8.9-liter 370HP diesel engine with 1,150 foot-pounds of torque. It has a full-time four-wheel drive system, burly off-road tires, reinforced bumpers, and rugged Black Rhino wheels. Insulated and illuminated cargo bays abound, and a dual-zone outdoor refrigerator/cooler is conveniently located just outside the main door.
The RV comes with a 50,000 BTU furnace and dual 15,000 BTU air conditioners. It has a custom spare tire mount, a permanently attached ladder for roof access, a 120-gallon freshwater tank, and 72-gallon gray and black water tanks. A Cummins 8k generator provides off-grid power, as does the three 270Ah house batteries connected to rooftop solar.
Inside, the motorcoach is bright and airy, with energy-efficient LED lighting used throughout. Maple wood cabinets and fixtures add a touch of elegance to the cabin, which is roomy, comfortable, and functional. That includes space for at least five passengers, with a large cabover sleeping area, a foldout couch, and a primary bedroom with a king-size bed.
The kitchen includes an electric cooktop stove, a microwave, a residential-style sink, quartz countertops, and a 12V refrigerator. The RV’s cozy dinette is perfect for sharing meals, playing games, or working on the road. The pass-through bathroom features an expansive shower, a porcelain toilet, a vanity, and plenty of cabinet space.
Other features include built-in Starlink satellite internet, multiple smart TVs, and surround sound audio. The vehicle’s cab is accessible from within the coach itself and features a suite of driver-assist features, including adaptive cruise control, tire-pressure monitoring system, and lane-departure assist. The rig also has plenty of onboard storage in the form of cabinets, drawers, and closet space.
The video highlights all of these features, showing off the clever design and craftsmanship that went into this build. Hit play on the clip above to start your tour, and be prepared to reimagine what a Class C can look and feel like.
