Nothing quite says springtime like those first rounds of golf after a long winter. The fresh dewy air and sweet smell of grass clippings welcome you back to the thrill of long drives and challenges of fast greens. It makes sense then that spring is home to National Golf Day (May 10), according to the GCSAA, which is coming up fast.

This is the perfect time to not only hit the green but hit the road and explore a new golf course at a campground. Check out this list of eight campgrounds perfect for celebrating National Golf Day and the great outdoors.

Crooked River Ranch (Terrebonne, OR)

Just outside the vast Willamette National Forest, the Crooked River Ranch is an ultimate Pacific Northwest golf getaway. Dense forests surround the 18-hole, par 71 course that sits in a scenic canyon. On hole 5, look down and you’ll see the crooked river winding through the canyon walls about 100 feet below you. The RV park features 90 full hookup spaces as well as a swimming pool to wind down after a long day on the links.

Rio Bend RV and Golf Resort (El Centro, CA)

More than 120 acres of pure golfing bliss await you at the Rio Bend RV and Golf Resort. With nearly perfect facility ratings from Good Sam, your resort experience will be a luxurious one with plenty of activities and spa features as well as ample full hookup campsite availability. The 9-hole golf course works its way around Drew Lake and you’ll have fantastic mountain views out in the distance.

Desert Skies RV Resort (Mesquite, NV)

Right on the eastern border with Arizona, the Desert Skies RV Resort in eastern Nevada is a fantastic destination for desert golf. If you’ve never been to a desert golf course, it’s a pretty fascinating experience. The lush, green course stands out starkly from the dry reds, oranges, and yellows of the southwestern landscape. The Palms Golf Club, bordering the resort, features prominent water hazards on the front 9, with a stark transition to vertical challenges that bring the canyons into play on the back 9. You’ll also enjoy your full hookup campsite as well as a fitness center, heated pool, and mini-golf.

Shadow Hills RV Resort (Indio, CA)

The Shadow Hills RV Resort puts you right across the street from the immaculate courses at Shadow Hills Golf Club. Seated right at the base of the mountains, the views are absolutely spectacular. The club features two different courses: a par 3 course that focuses on desert beauty and excellent short play as well as a full 18-hole championship course that will challenge even the most seasoned golfers. The accommodations at the RV park include full hookup campsites, a heated jacuzzi, walking trails, and a fitness center.

Shallow Creek RV Resort (Gladewater, TX)

Nestled in the piney east Texas forest, the Shallow Creek RV Resort is full of family fun all on its own – and a perfect destination for celebrating National Golf Day. With the addition of a new water park and a well-stocked fishing pond, the resort offers hours of unique outdoor entertainment. In addition, the campground has a direct access road to the fantastic Tempest Golf Club. The par 72 18-hole course is aptly named, featuring tons of risk/reward shots that will challenge the best of the best.

Hickory Ridge Golf and RV Resort (Holley, NY)

In upstate New York, not far from Lake Ontario, the Hickory Ridge Golf and RV Resort offers the best of both worlds. A beautifully forested campground with an opportunity for lakeside camping, the resort will cater to all your needs and wants with full hookup sites, fishing, kayaking, a swimming pool, nature trails, and a rec room. The full-size, 18-hole championship golf course is well worth a few rounds of play and the more casual golfer will appreciate its more open design.

The Great Outdoors RV and Golf Resort (Titusville, FL)

Florida is known for both its quantity and quality of golf courses. The Great Outdoors RV and Golf Resort lives up to expectations with an impressive facility that welcomes golf-loving visitors in addition to its year-round tenants. Its 18-hole course is full of water hazards with plenty of wildlife around.  Although it’s not a very long course (only 6,500 yards from the tips), the ample foliage and ever-changing Florida weather will be plenty of challenge. In addition to golf, there’s no shortage of activities here including fishing, a swimming pool, fitness facility, card games, outdoor sports, and thriving nature trails.

Westwind RV and Golf Resort (Yuma, AZ)

You’ll find prime accommodations and outdoor fun at the Westwind RV and Golf Resort in Yuma, Arizona. Boasting a perfect rating from Good Sam, this resort is a can’t miss experience. Enjoy tons of luxurious spa features as well as a nice variety of outdoor sport and fitness facilities. The onsite restaurant and bar also serve up some of the tastiest ribs around. The 9-hole golf course, while not filled with obstacles, features narrow fairways that force players to utilize the straightest shots possible.

Shady Brook Golf and RV Resort (Sumterville, FL)

The Shady Brook Golf and RV Resort, located in the far outskirts of Orlando, is a fantastic option for senior campers. The RV resort emphasizes a peaceful atmosphere with full hookup camping and centrally located recreation and administration facilities. The shorter 18-hole course (6,400 yards from the championship tees) features heavy water on the front 9 followed up by tight fairway play on the back. In addition, golf, campers can also enjoy shuffleboard, bocce ball, bingo, and potluck activities.

Spring is the time to get those clubs swinging. Celebrate National Golf Day this April 10th by taking the trusty RV on the road to try out any one of these fantastic courses.
