Video: There is So Much to Love About the Forest River Campsite Reserve 23TS

Small and relatively lightweight toy haulers are all the rage right now, with more than a few options for RV buyers to choose from. But you’ll be hard-pressed to find one that comes with as many delightful features as the Forest River Campsite Reserve 23TS. This rig is so nice that it is a compelling option even for RVers who aren’t looking to store things in its ample gear garage.

Measuring just 28′ in length, this toy hauler isn’t especially large. It is built to comfortably sleep just two people, making it an excellent couples camper with plenty of interior space. Of course, like most toy haulers these days, the rear cargo ramp converts into a deck for relaxing outside. But that space is further enhanced with a fireplace and smart TV that are mounted on a pivoting wall, making those amenities accessible both inside in the living room area or while lounging on the patio itself. A pair of plush recliners can be freely moved between both spaces, bringing comfort where you need it. This bit of clever design adds functionality and character to this rig.

Inside, the garage space is roughly 10′ in length, giving you plenty of room for bikes, kayaks, and even motorcycles. You might even be able to fit a small ATV, but this isn’t as cavernous as larger, fifth-wheel-based toy haulers, for instance. Still, there is plenty of room for gear, and when it isn’t loaded up with those toys, it is a very spacious living room. A sizable L-shaped kitchen occupies one corner and comes with a convection microwave/air fryer, a three-burner gas-powered stove, a stainless steel sink, and a large 12V fridge. Cupboards abound, and the inclusion of a spice rack and a pantry—hidden behind the TV/fireplace—are both nice additions. The one notable downside to this floor plan is that it comes with a very small table, which is designed to fold out of the way when loading up the garage.

Further back, you’ll find a pass-through bathroom that is surprisingly large for a travel trailer of this size. A corner-mounted vanity, sink, and cupboard offer space-saving functionality, while a porcelain toilet adds a resemblance feel. The elevated shower has room for 6’+ campers and includes built-in shelves and a shower head that would feel right at home in any apartment or house.

Finally, the front of the Campsite Reserve 23TS is taken up by the bedroom. Here, you’ll find a king-size bed, European-style overhead storage cabinets, and extended-length nightstands with surge-protected power outlets for running a CPAP machine or recharging small electronics. A wardrobe and linen closet add additional storage, and twin reading lights are a welcome touch. A TV wall mount comes standard, allowing owners to add one if they like.

External features of note include a power tongue jack, LED lighting, twin propane tanks, and an enclosed underbelly with heated holding tanks. Rock guards help protect the RV’s body, and ample storage compartments make room for additional gear. A 200W solar package comes standard, as does an 8k BTU A/C unit and a 20K BTU furnace. And just to add a bit of extra flair, the rig includes an outdoor kitchen with a stove and mini-fridge.
