If you’re still looking for suggestions on the best places to camp across the US, Hipcamp is here to help. The online campsite discovery platform has just shared its picks for the top destinations for tent camping, glamping, RVing, and more, with great locations across all 50 states on offer. And for the first time ever, the list includes the best options for vans and overlanding, too, which shows just how popular those categories continue to be.
You’ll find the complete list, which is unsurprisingly quite extensive, here. That landing page lists the top campsites found in each state, but also offers quick links to the selections you’re likely most interested in seeing, namely “RV & Trailer” and “Van & Overland.” Those two categories are directly aimed at RVers specifically, although car campers, vanlifers, and overlanders will obviously find some good suggestions and options there as well.

So which locations take home the top honors from Hipcamp? In the RV & Trailer section, the top three winners include the designated RV campsites at Watkins Glen, NY; the Asheville Area Luxury Solo RVing destination in Fletch, NC; and Upriver Paradise Private Retreat in Blue River, OR. But there are a number of other options that get the nod, too, including the Bentonville Bike Camp in Bentonville, AR and the Desert Rose Stopover in Roswell, NM.
As for the Van & Overlanding category, there are plenty of intriguing options to be found on that list, as well. Hipcamp specifically calls out the Slippery Rock Trails LLC in Greene, ME; The Lookout in Clear Lake, WA; and Camp Saguaro in Tucson, AZ. Other remote destinations that earned a spot on the list include Zion Wright Ranch Eco-Camp in Virgin, UT and Laf Ranch in Medina, TX.

One of the nice things about the Hipcamp Best Places to Camp list is that it demonstrates just how broad the definition of camping has become. As you would expect, tent campers and backpackers will find a treasure trove of options to consider on the list and the site in general, but it is increasingly becoming a much bigger and better resource for RVers and overlanders, too. The fact that the site specifically broke out an overlanding category for the first time this year is a good indication that that activity continues to grow in popularity and prominence. Even a separate category for glamping is an excellent and welcome choice, giving us a great way to find places to go no matter which type of camping meets our own personal needs.
