Stef and James are about to make an upgrade in their RV experience by moving into the all-new Winnebago EKKO—a Class C Camper. Before driving theirs off the lot, they got to walk through a model and get all the stats, info, and more.
Exterior
The Winnebago EKKO is a Class C by definition but doesn’t look like any other Class C on the market. Its rugged, off-grid, fierce look is attractive, sporty, and clean. It’s also compact with the same footprint as a van. This means it can go, park, and be stored anywhere a van can.
The EKKO rests on a Ford all-wheel drive chassis with six hub-centric wheels and a full spare. The EKKO comes with a spacious gear garage, one of only three Class Cs with this option. It’s a great amount of storage for a van-footprint camper. There is also a back-door storage area – large enough to fit an RV washer. Up on the roof, the EKKO carries 455 watts of sunroof power and an optional roof port.
Interior
The interior starts off on the right foot with a regular door for entry/exit as opposed to the more common sliding door of Class Cs. The door is a full 1.5” thick with motorized steps and a screen door with a deadbolt.
Bedroom
The bedroom features a twin bed layout with the option of folding out a middle portion to combine the two beds into one large sleeping arrangement. The mattresses feature Deep Freeze Plus, which draws away excess heat from the body—perfect for those warm summer nights. The underbeds provide plenty of storage including wardrobes. And, for easy privacy, the bedroom has a curtain to divide it from the main living area.
Bathroom
The bathroom features an innovative layout. A sink is mounted on a swivel wall that, when unmoored and carried over, covers the cassette toilet and medicine cabinet while revealing a stand-in shower – large enough for a full-grown adult. The back of the sink swivel wall is water-proof as well. This layout prevents the shower water from getting the sink and toilet wet.
Kitchen
The galley-style kitchen boasts laminate counters with a propane-powered stovetop. The main upper cabinet is also large enough to hold a slow cooker or set of pots and pans. And of course, the kitchen comes with a standard microwave and 5.3 cubic foot Refrigerator with freezer.
Chassis
The Winnebago EKKO is powered by a Ford 3.5l EcoBoost engine. It carries an 11,000-pound weight rating with a 31-gallon fuel tank. It also comes standard with Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, a tire pressure monitoring system, Apple® CarPlay, and plenty of clearance for wherever you take it!
