SG Blocks, Inc.—a leading design firm specializing in modular structures—has joined forces with real estate development company HTR Investors to design and produce RV and glamping sites. The partnership hopes to build 150 container-based upscale accommodations for use in campgrounds around the country to tap into the growing demand for glamping experiences.

The eco-friendly and sustainability-built structures will be designed by SG Echo, a subsidiary of SG Blocks. Construction will take place in the firm’s Oklahoma-based facility, which recently expanded to accommodate the growing business. The company uses recycled shipping containers to create commercial and residential spaces, as well as military installations and EV charging stations.

The partnership with SG Blocks will bolster HTR’s efforts to acquire and develop RV, camping, and glamping destinations across the US. The investment company plans to capitalize on the increased popularity of glamping—projected to become a $5.4 billion industry by 2028—by managing its own resorts. The container-based structures will serve as onsite accommodations for visitors.

In a press release announcing the collaboration, HTR Managing Partner Minh Tran said, “SG Blocks has developed a unique and scalable product that we feel fits well with our internal goals towards sustainability and low impact development, and that supports and embraces the communities we engage.”

The initial plan is for SG Echo to produce 150 units for HTR. The real estate developer plans to install those structures in campgrounds located in Moab, UT, Estes Park, CO, the Berkshires, MA, the NY Adirondacks, Egg Harbor, WI, and Kerrville, TX. Neither company has announced a timeline for delivery.

“We knew from our initial consultation with HTR Investors that their vision of interactive, unique, experiential properties that are sustainable and nomadic in nature aligned with ours,” Perry Ludy, Sales and Business Development Consultant with SG Blocks, said in the same press release. “With this, these initially selected locations are only growing in popularity, and we’re pleased to be a part of that.”

What these glamping units will look like and what amenities they’ll have inside remains to be seen. For examples of what SG Blocks and SG Echo can build, visit the company’s website.
