Overland Expo West took place this past weekend, and as usual, there were plenty of new vehicles on display at the show. Attendees had the chance to check out a range of new options, with some especially interesting rigs built with the off-road and off-grid explorer in mind. We took note of five new models that were announced heading into the event, with some truly enticing options for both veteran and newbie drivers. Here are five new overlanding vehicles that can take you to remote and wild places, and get you back home again.

Storyteller Overland GXV WILD

In what has become somewhat of a tradition for Overland Expo, Storyteller Overland was on hand with a new adventure vehicle, this time in the form of the GXV WILD adventure truck. This rig is the latest addition to the company’s Global Expedition Vehicle catalog and combines excellent off-road capability along with a luxurious interior. The vehicle rides on a Ram 3500 chassis equipped with a 6.4L Hemi V8 engine, a 3″ lift kit, a heavy-duty suspension, and an 11,000 lbs. towing capacity. Inside, the WILD features room for four adults, a lofted queen bed, a rear dinette, and a kitchen with a mini-fridge/freezer, a portable induction cooktop, and a convection microwave oven that pulls double-duty as an air fryer. An onboard wet bath includes a sink, shower, and cassette toilet, while a Truma A/C unit and hydronic heater provide four-season comfort. The WILD’s signature feature? The FlipOut Deck, which opens the rear of the vehicle to extend the living space. Pricing starts at $299,898.

Mammoth Overland XLE

The only towable on our list, the Mammoth Overland XLE, is nonetheless a very impressive overlanding vehicle. This travel trailer includes a very long list of features, like a fully pressurized cabin with a medical-grade HEPA air filtration system, 1″ thick bulletproof windows, a quad remote-controlled bear spray system, and a 360º night-vision security camera array. It also comes with a 1200Ah house battery, 400W of solar, a 12V A/C unit, off-road tires, a rugged suspension, integrated Starlink, and a gun safe. That’s all just the tip of the iceberg with this unique vehicle, which is designed to ride out the apocalypse in comfort and style. The initials “XLE” in the rig’s name even stand for Xtinction Level Escape, further hinting at the full capabilities of the rig. With a built-in generator, a water filtration system, and a nicely equipped galley kitchen, this is a trailer that can go anywhere and stay there for as long as you need. You can even add an option smoke and flare launcher for further security. Pricing starts at $123,994.

Nissan Frontier Pro-4X Pickup Truck

In a world where the Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger exist, the Nissan Frontier is an often-overlooked option in the midsize truck category. But the good-looking pickup is fun to drive and comes with a lot of feature at a solid price, making it a compelling option for many. Now, the Frontier Pro-4X version gets a nice glow-up courtesy of the Ultimate Overland Vehicle project from Overland Expo. This version of Nissan’s truck already ships with an off-road focused suspension, an electronic locking rear differential, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and a 310HP 3.8L V6 engine . From there, models added a lightweight (just 322 lbs.) pop-up bed camper courtesy of the fine folks at Tune Outdoors, along with a Rixen shower, a portable firepit, an electric cooler, and RotopaX water storage. The result is a truck that is more than ready to take on the challenges of remote overland travel. The Nissan Pro-4X pickup truck starts at $41,870.

EarthCruiser BSC

EarthCruiser BSC Expedition Vehicle

EarthCruiser bolstered its already impressive line of adventure vehicles with the addition of the new BSC model, which is built in collaboration with OVP and utilizes the existing EarthCruiser platform. Most of the specs and features of the new rig have yet to be revealed, but the company says it is built to be a more approachable option with a simplified build process that doesn’t compromise features, durability, or capability in any way. More info is expected to be released soon, but RV Business reports the truck will cost around $450,000. We’ll share further details when we know more.

Winnebago Arka

Winnebago Arka

Last, but certainly not least, is the Winnebago Arka. We’ve already given this impressive-looking rig plenty of coverage, but it is still worth noting here after making its debut at Overland Expo West. The Ram 3500-based adventure truck is notable not just for its long list of features, but also for the fact that it comes from Winnebago, adding additional legitimacy to the overlanding movement from a stalwart in the RV space. Built for four-season camping, the Arka is the most off-road capable vehicle that Winnebago has ever built. Its modern interior is open, airy, and surprisingly spacious, with room for four and features like a large rear gear garage, a galley kitchen with solid-surface countertops, and a wet bath with a shower and cassette toilet. The rig’s off-road credentials are further enhanced thanks to rugged bumpers and brush guards, a built-in air compressor, Lithionics batteries and alternator, and off-road driving lights. MSRP starts at $331,901.
