“Roll In, Kick Back, and Chill Out” is the motto at Camp Margaritaville RV Resort in Crystal Beach, Texas. From the moment you land at this latest Camp Margaritaville, a new branch of the Margaritaville Hotels & Resorts brand set on 150-plus acres of beachfront paradise, you’ll be basking in a laid-back island vibe. The RV resort has many of the same frills as the hotels, such as its open-year-round License to Chill Pool with a 75-foot swim-up bar and Fins Bar & Grill serving up cheeseburgers—of course!—and other tasty morsels.
While nibblin’ on sponge cake and watchin’ the sun bake, join in on one of the resort’s many daily activities, head to the 5-acre open-air Paradise Park entertainment center for year-round games and concerts, or float in the pool that boasts the largest of any RV resort in the country. Let your furball run loose at Bark-aritaville Dog Park. Camp Margaritaville features a beach-view fitness center, and kids, young and old, will have a blast with family games, a jumping pillow, beach scavenger hunts, wiffle ball, and dodging balls in the GaGa pit. Recently added Fin City Arcade has classic and new games.

The resort has direct access to 27 miles of beach and participates in local community activities, including the annual Mother’s Day weekend Crab Festival. Camp Margaritaville also hosts concerts and events on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends, as well as on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. To explore the area on island time, rent a golf cart from the resort, or catch a short ferry ride to Galveston.
All 204 RV sites are paved and are big-rig friendly, have full hookups, a picnic table, a concrete firepit, and a grassy area. High-speed Wi-Fi is included. If you like being in the midst of the action, choose a site around the beach, or if you prefer a little more quiet, opt for a site at the back of the resort at this Good Sam North American Campground Guide 10/10*/10-rated RV park.

Culture Stop: Houston
One of America’s biggest and proudest cities, Houston, Texas, offers great food and big Lone Star spirit. Wildsam’s Texas guide saunters into H-town to discover the best of the best in the area.
Vintage Hangout
To start getting your degree in all things Houston, hit West Alabama Ice House, an open-air relic of a very-Texas kind of gathering place that dates to the days before refrigeration, when patrons would buy a block of ice and crack open a cold beer.
Classic Foodway
Next up is a fajita plate at the original Ninfa’s on Navigation, where in 1973 Ninfa Laurenzo made Texans fall in love with the Tex-Mex classic. Ceviche, with gulf shrimp and red snapper, is another good call.
Big Event
The entire city pulls on their boots for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (February 28–March 19 in 2023), a 20-night spectacle of roping contests, live music, and fried food on a stick. Don’t miss the mutton bustin’.
