Nana Langton is a thru-hiker whose passion for adventure has taken her to some of the most iconic trails in North America and Europe. She’s trekked the 170-mile Tahoe Rim Trail, the 186-mile Tahoe Yosemite Trail, and the 211-mile John Muir Trail. She’s even walked the entire length of the Pacific Crest Trail, which stretches for 2,653 miles from the US-Mexico border in the south to the Canadian border in the north.
Nana’s husband, Bill, isn’t quite as keen on those long-distance hiking adventures, but he enjoys supporting her in those endeavors. He does that by using their Newmar Bay Star motor coach as a mobile base camp. The vehicle allows Bill to pursue his passion for photography while waiting for his wife to emerge from the wilderness.
In the video above, you’ll get the chance to meet the Langtons and see firsthand how the Bay Star supports their active lifestyles. For Nana, the Class A motorhome offers all the comforts of home even as she tackles some of the toughest hiking routes in the world. And for Bill, the vehicle is a roving photo studio that allows him to connect with his wife along the trail, greeting her in comfort and style.
Bill and Nana became RVers after spending a weekend camping in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California with friends. Heavy rains made staying in a tent a challenge, but luckily, some of their companions had rented a travel trailer. After escaping the elements and spending a few days in the towable, they were hooked. It wasn’t long before they had a trailer of their own. Later, they graduated to a Class C model before eventually falling in love with the spacious and comfortable Bay Star.
Today, their motorhome—which they affectionately nicknamed “Moose”— plays a crucial role in keeping them active and adventurous. Both Bill and Nana love the freedom it gives them to pursue their passions, serving as the perfect support vehicle for their hiking and photographic journeys.
