Trudy King: Being Present for the Future
Passionate About RVs and Life, Trudy King Counts Her Blessings

Sometimes life throws you a curveball. For Trudy King, market manager West Texas/New Mexico for Camping World, that came in the form of breast cancer.
In 2017 she underwent surgery, radiation, and two rounds of chemotherapy. Trudy is grateful she had the opportunity to be able to work when she could. She describes the people she worked with as “a tremendous group of folks who rallied around me and supported me and really stepped up.”
She “continued to put one foot in front of the other” and overcame. Now she appreciates life even more and considers it a blessing to be able to do a job she loves, spend time traveling in her Winnebago Vista with her copilot Akita-chow-American Staffordshire mix Chelsea, taking long walks with her pup, and riding her Yamaha V Star motorcycle through the colorful landscape of the Land of Enchantment.
A Love for the Industry
The RV industry is one that appreciates people’s differences, and nobody is expected to be the same. And it’s one that makes Trudy feel like she is making a valuable difference in people’s lives.
When Trudy started in the RV industry in 2003, she had no idea it would carry her into a career.
“It’s a good industry to get in on the ground floor and learn as you go,” she says.
As she continues to learn, she finds inspiration every day in the people she works with and the customers. She notes that the RV industry is more diverse and has changed over the years, successfully acclimating.
“As we grow with the changes in our world, getting more digitally focused, the industry is adapting. People are able to shop online, see the products via video.” All kinds of products have adapted, from solar panels to USB ports to internet access to towing accessories.
RVs are the vehicles—literally—to spark affordable adventure. For instance, younger folks who don’t want to put down roots have joined as full-timers and can have pretty much everything an anchored home provides.
Continuing to Adventure
Trudy absolutely loves being engaged with and helping people in such a fun culture. As a self-described “adventuresome extroverted introvert,” her viewpoint is that, “It’s a gift to be healthy, traveling in my motor home with my dog, and enjoying people.”
Following her heart and boundless roads, she looks forward to more exploration of our great nation—with her four-legged navigator, of course.
She says, “It’s wonderful that more people are enjoying the RV lifestyle. I think it’s important to get outdoors, breathe fresh air, and have a sense of gratitude.” She is certainly living by that motto.
