As the portable power station market has continued to expand over the past few years, an increasing number of brands have launched in an effort to get a piece of the proverbial pie. Sadly, most of those manufacturers just churn out “me-too” products that do very little to differentiate themselves from the competition. But there are still a couple of top brands that continue to innovate in the space, offering top-notch products that offer significant leaps in performance, features, and design. A shining example of this is the new EcoFlow Delta 3 Ultra Plus, which delivers exceptional capacity, power output, and expandability in one very impressive package.

The Delta Line Continues to Evolve

EcoFlow line of Delta power stations have always been at the cutting edge of the portable power space. These models have continued to evolve nicely over the years, increasing capacity and output, while retaining a familiar form factor that is admittedly big and heavy, but also highly functional and utilitarian. The Delta 3 Ultra Plus continues that tradition, albeit in a somewhat-streamlined case that looks both futuristic and industrial at the same time. The unit comes with the Data line’s trademark rugged wheels and telescoping handle, which makes it surprisingly easy to move around, although at 74.3 lbs it remains on the heavy side. But, considering everything it delivers, this is still one of the best options around, whether you’re looking to use at home, in your RV, at the campsite, or on the jobsite.

The Delta 3 Ultra Plus’ size and weight are understandable once you discover the level of performance it offers. This power station produces 3600W of sustained output, with a peak surge of up to 7200W when needed. That’s plenty of power to run just about anything, including an air conditioner, a residential refrigerator, or even a washer and dryer. While camping, it can even power lights, an electric grill or kettle, a microwave, mini-fridge, and more. The unit even comes with an Anderson port and TT-30 port to provide electricity to your entire rig.

With 3072Wh of onboard energy storage capacity, the EcoFlow Delta 3 Ultra Plus can run your appliances for hours or even days at a time. That includes powering a home refrigerator for up to three days, a microwave for more than two hours, or an A/C unit continuously for up to three hours. It will also recharge a laptop or tablet dozens of times or a smartphone more than a hundred times, with juice left over for other devices. And if you need yet more capacity, EcoFlow’s expansion batteries can increase those numbers up to 11kWh, allowing owners to power their entire house for days at a time. That same versatility and expandability also applies to use in an RV and makes this power station a great option for Class B van builds.

As is typical with modern power stations, the Delta 3 Ultra Plus can be recharged multiple ways. The easiest way is to simply plug it directly into a 120V AC wall outlet at home, which will replenish the battery from empty to completely full in about two hours. The device also supports up to 1600W of input directly from solar panels, which can recharge it in as little as three hours depending on exposure to the sun. The power station also supports charging via a generator, a vehicle alternator, or a combination of several of these options working together. For instance, owners can use both solar panels and an EcoFlow Smart Generator, which can take the battery from 0-80% in under an hour.

Any Port in a Storm

The Delta 3 Ultra Plus boasts impressive storage capacity and output, complemented by a plethora of useful ports to harness its performance. Besides the Anderson port and TT-30 port mentioned above, the device features four 120V AC outlets, capable of powering most household appliances. Additional charging ports include a single USB-A (18W) port, one USB-C PD (140W) port, and two standard USB-C (45W) ports. The power station also includes a 12V vehicle port (aka a cigarette lighter port), enhancing its versatility and compatibility, particularly for use in the field.

All of those ports work in conjunction with the power station’s onboard battery and output components to run your appliances, smart devices, and other electronics wherever and whenever you need them. That includes something as simple as recharging a smartphone on the go to powering an entire RV. There are very few other models on the market that can match the Delta 3 Ultra Plus in this regard, with most of the alternatives coming from EcoFlow itself.

But EcoFlow’s technology allows the Delta 3 Ultra Plus to do more than simply supply power like a connected battery pack. For instance, the power station can prioritize output to specific ports, ensuring mission-critical devices—such as a refrigerator or heater—always receive the electricity needed to keep it running. And thanks to the company’s proprietary X-Fusion 3.0 Tech, the Ultra Plus can provide a sustained 3600W of output when plugged into the grid, while most competing models are limited to just 1800W.

Other Important Features

As with other modern power stations, the Delta 3 Ultra Plus comes with a number of key features that help set it apart from the field. Those include the option to monitor and control it remotely using a phone or tablet wirelessly over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. EcoFlow’s smartphone app puts a variety of controls at your fingertips, including the ability to activate individual ports and modes, watch energy flow in and out, and track energy bill savings when used as a home charging solution. The app also allows users to upgrade the device’s firmware, schedule tasks, and adjust port priority. It can even alert you when a major storm is approaching your area to ensure your power station and expansion batteries are fully charged and operational.

The Ultra Plus also has the ability to be used as an uninterruptible power supply with a response time of less than 10 milliseconds, further enhancing its use with mission-critical devices. As you would expect, the power station produces a pure sine wave output, providing further protection from power surges for delicate and sensitive electronics. The power station’s digital display is bright, easy to read, and helpful, while the unit itself remains extremely quiet even under a heavy load. EcoFlow says it produces just 25dB of sound under normal activity, which is less than the typical noise level found in a library.

EcoFlow’s EV-grade lithium batteries are worth noting, as well, offering proven performance over years of testing and development. The power cells found in the Ultra Plus are rated for up to ten years of use, with an innovative design and integrated battery management system designed for longevity and safety. All of this means you’ll definitely get your money’s worth both in terms of use during power outages or just providing peace of mind. And should any issues arise, the company backs its devices with a standard three-year warranty.

Closing Thoughts

We’ve been fortunate enough to test and use numerous power stations over the years, and EcoFlow’s Delta series remains the gold standard by which everything else is measuredThe Delta 3 Ultra Plus only further enhances that legacy, offering refined design, a robust feature set, proven durability, and impressive all-around performance. The power station’s versatility and expandability never fail to impress, making this an easy product to recommend for anyone looking for a power solution for use at the jobsite, campsite, or as a home backup solution. Simply put, there isn’t much else out there that can match what this unit delivers.

Considering everything the EcoFlow Delta 3 Ultra Plus brings to the table, its $2,899 price tag feels like quite a bargain. It wasn’t too many years ago where a power station of this stature would have cost nearly twice that, but improvements in battery tech, onboard circuitry, and production have brought that price down considerably. Yes, that is still an expensive product, but for those who need the specs and performance it offers, it is a relative bargain. Better still, at the time of publication, EcoFlow is selling the Ultra Plus for $1,400 off that price, making it just $1,499. At that price, this is an absolute steal for anyone in the market for a new model.
