By now, we all know that portable power stations are perfect for recharging our personal devices on the go, running small appliances at the campsite, and serving as backup power sources at home. But these handy gadgets continue to evolve at an amazing pace, delivering more features and improved capacity in smaller form factors on a regular basis. Nowhere is this more evident than with the new Bluetti Elite 300, a device that delivers over 3kWh of capacity in a size that would have been almost  unthinkable just a few years ago.

Big Power, Small Footprint

Bluetti touts the Elite 300 as the “world’s smallest 3kWh power station,” and at the moment, it is hard to dispute that claim. The device measures 14.41” x 12.01” x 11.71” in size and weighs just under 58 lbs. Compared with the competition, however, those dimensions are somewhat modest. In fact, Bluetti says the unit is 21% lighter than anything else in its class. And when you add in a pair of built-in handles, and all of this makes the Elite 300 fairly easy to store and lug around.

As already noted, the Elite 300 offers 3014.4 Wh of storage capacity, which is remarkable considering the dimensions mentioned above. The power station offers a sustained output of 2400W, with a max load of as much ad 4800W, allowing it to run a wide variety of devices and appliances, including a refrigerator, microwave, smart TVs, camp lighting, and more. In short, it is a portable powerhouse that easily transitions from home, to the campground, to the job site, with plenty of versatility and power to support all your efforts in the field.

As you would expect, the power station can be recharged using a variety of methods. The fastest and easiest option is to plug it into a 120V wall outlet at home, which can replenish the onboard battery from zero to 80% in as little as 1.3 hours. The Elite 300 can also utilize up to 1200W of solar to fully recharge in about four hours, or a 1200W vehicle alternator charger for a 100% recharge in 3.2 hours. You can even plug it into an AC outlet in a car, truck, or SUV, although that can take as much as 30 hours depending on the vehicle and plug.

During our testing, the fastest recharge rate unsurprisingly came from plugging it into the wall outlet at home, with our test unit recharging even faster than Bluetti’s advertised speeds. We also hooked it up to 400W solar panels, and were able to recharge from 50% to full in about six hours, even with shifting clouds and shadows. Those numbers bode well for using the Elite 300 at home and on the road, ensuring you always have backup capacity when you need it.

Plenty of Ports and Features

Obviously, the Elite 300’s size and capacity are its headline-grabbing features, but Bluetti outfitted it nicely with all the charging ports you could ask for. Those include four standard 120V AC outlets, two 15W USB-A ports, a 100W USB-C port, and a 140W USB-C port. The power station also has a 12V/30A port and a 12V “cigarette lighter” port. Best of all, this compact power station comes with a NEMA TT-30 outlet, allowing RV owners to plug in directly.

So what do all of these specs and ports mean for real-world use? The Elite 300 delivers excellent performance, allowing RVers to run interior lighting for 65+ hours, a coffee maker for up to three hours, and an induction cooktop for two hours. It can also recharge a laptop more than 30 times, a tablet 65 times, or a smartphone more than 90 times. It can even run a residential refrigerator for 2.5 days and exterior camp lighting for nearly 80 hours.

Bluetti has given the Elite 300 plenty of other quality-of-life features that make it an even more compelling product. For instance, when used as an uninterruptible power supply, it has a response time of just 10 milliseconds, meaning it can detect when your primary source of power goes offline and automatically switch over to the power station to keep mission-critical devices operating. Owners can also monitor and adjust settings on the device via Bluetti’s smartphone app using either Bluetooth or WiFi connections. And with improved battery technology and efficient power management, the unit’s power cells are now good for more than 6000 recharge cycles, which translates to daily use for more than 16 years.

Exceeding Expectations

After having the chance to test the Bluetti Elite 300 at home and in the field for a couple of weeks, we can honestly say that this power station easily exceeds our loft expectations. Considering the size, power, and capacity of this unit, it’s safe to say that Bluetti has pulled off an impressive feat of engineering here. Managing to pack a 3kWh battery, with an output capacity of up to 4800W into such a relatively compact space is a bit of a marvel. What that means for anyone who needs power on the go is even more so.

To be clear, there are certainly smaller and lighter power stations on the market if portability is your main concern. But you won’t find another model that offers the level of performance found here in such a small form factor. That alone makes it very notable, although Bluetti’s excellent build quality, the device’s plethora of ports, and easy-to-use smartphone app further enhance its capabilities. All of these things add up to make the Elite 300 one of the best portable power stations we’ve ever used. And the addition of the TT-30 port makes it an easy recommendation for RVers and vanlifers looking for a simple, yet effective, way to add more power to their rig.

With battery technology continuing to evolve and innovation in technology and efficiency moving along at a rapid pace, the Elite 300 feels like the pinnacle of current power station design. It is more powerful and versatile than any other model of this size, packing in everything you could hope for from a device of this kind. With such a robust feature set, it truly is a great choice for anyone who needs a power station for any task, short of a full home power backup solution. That isn’t to say that this unit isn’t a viable choice for short-term backup power at home. It just doesn’t compete with the larger, more expensive, options designed to keep your entire house running for days at a time.

All of this is made even more impressive by the Elite 300’s price. Bluetti’s MSRP for the power station is $1,199, although at the time of publication it is discounted down to $1,099. Better still, if you purchase between now and June 22, you can use the discount code RVElite300 for an additional 8% off at both the Bluetti store and on Amazon. We’re also told that the power station may be further discounted during Amazon Prime Days (June 23-26), with the same discount code offering 5% off the final price.

As you can probably tell, we’re very impressed with the Bluetti Elite 300. The device is the evolution of the power station industry over the past few years, delivering everything you could ask for in a smaller and lighter form factor. That makes it very easy to recommend to anyone who needs this level of performance at home, at the campsite, or on the job. But with such a compelling price, it is also worth recommending to anyone who needs a power station at all. Yes, there are smaller, less expensive options available, but considering just how versatile and useful the Elite 300 is, it is worth the stretch of paying a little more for everything it delivers.
