Water-Heater Debris

While doing this I noticed pieces of glass coming out the drain. Does this mean that I have a broken glass liner? And should I replace the water heater?

A. Yes, L.I., you have a broken glass liner, and yes, you should definitely replace the water heater. You sure don’t want to get any glass shards into your freshwater system. Water heaters don’t last forever, and a broken liner is a good sign that it’s time to move on.
