New emissions standards for diesel engines call for changes in motor
oil. “The combination of ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) fuel and
after-treatment devices, such as a diesel particulate filter (DPF), will
help to dramatically reduce emissions,” says Stede Granger, OEM
technical manager for Shell Lubricants.
To this end, Shell Lubricants has introduced Shell ROTELLA T
I5W-40 with a new formulation designed to meet the recent API CJ-4
service-category requirements for heavy-duty diesel-engine oils. Shell
ROTELLA T is said to significantly reduce wear, have exceptional deposit
control and offer engine cleanliness for pre-2007 engines and new
diesel engines built after January 1, 2007.
