Truck News: Mitsubishi, GM, Toyota

Mitsubishi Shares Dakota-Pickup Components Mitsubishi Motors will work
with Dodge to jointly develop a midsize pickup truck. Mitsubishi will get a version of the
Dodge Dakota pickup, which is currently undergoing a redesign. The new version will go on
sale in 2004. Many of the components in the Mitsubishi truck, which should be introduced by
2005, will be from the Dakota platform. Mitsubishi stopped selling its compact Mighty Max
pickup in the United States back in 1996. GM Unveils Small H3T Pickup
General Motors Hummer brand has unveiled its next concept vehicle, a small pickup called
the H3T, at the 2004 Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, January 2-11. The H3 series, built on a
much smaller Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup-truck chassis, is powered by an in-line-five
turbocharged engine with 350 hp. It ‘s expected to get upwards of 22 miles per gallon,
according to General Motors. Toyota to Show Hybrids, Pickup Toyota will
introduce two new hybrid gas-electric vehicles at the 2004 North American International
Auto Show in Detroit, January 10-19, following its popular 2004 Prius. The Highlander will
get the Hybrid Synergy Drive system used in the Prius; a new Lexus RX 330 hybrid will have
a gas-electric powertrain expected to be based on the same technology. Toyota will also
show a new full-size pickup that’s due to enter production in 2006.
