Toyota will recall approximately 420,000 vehicles worldwide to repair an engine component
that may fail, allowing oil to leak from the engine and resulting in failure. Various
Toyotas — including Yaris, Echo, Corolla and the hybrid Prius — are included. The Tundra
pickup truck also is being recalled for problems with front airbag deactivation switches.
Dealers will make corrections by bypassing the deactivation switches. Therefore, Tundra’s
airbags on both sides will deploy in front-end collisions as a result of the modification,
so child seats will not be safe to use in the front seat. Some 160,000 trucks are affected
with the problem.
