The 2001-2003 Lincoln Town Car is being investigated by the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA) for a potential flaw in its side airbags. Approximately 140,000 Town
Cars built during the two model years are being studied, after 138 complaints were logged
over the side airbags. The complaints charge that the airbags go off unintentionally when
the car crosses potholes or other road debris. If NHTSA gathers enough evidence to support
the claims, the investigation could be turned into an official recall.
