Tire-Pressure Sensors Coming

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

A federal law passed last year will require pressure-monitoring systems on all new cars and
trucks sold in the United States by 2003. Chrysler reports it has a system on certain 2002
models that has sensors in the wheels that relay pressure readings to a receiver in the
cab. An alarm tells the driver if the pressure is too low or too high. Ford will offer a
more advanced system as an option on the 2002 Explorer, and General Motors already offers a
basic tire monitor on some of its models.
