Timberlodge 34RPS

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

Someone at Adventure Manufacturing had a brainstorm and asked, “What if we designed a
trailer with a patio on the back?” It seemed like a good idea, so the company expanded on
it. “What if we built a trailer with a patio on the back that could also carry motorcycles,
quadrunners, and stuff like that?” One thing led to another, and before you knew it, the
Timberlodge 34RPS was born. On the inside, the 34RPS is much like any other travel trailer,
offering all the standard amenities. In the bedroom is an island queen-size bed, and
opposite the galley is a large slideout room that houses the booth-style dinette and the
living room. When extra sleeping space is needed, the dinette and the convertible sofa can
be called into action. But that’s where the similarities end. Beyond the living room,
you’ll find a sliding patio door that leads outside to an 8 x 8-foot covered deck, complete
with safety railing all around. On the curbside of the patio is a fold-down step that makes
it easy to get to ground level from the deck. And across the rear is a gate-type railing
that opens and closes to allow access to this most unusual deck. Taking innovation one step
further, the deck also doubles as a garage for motorcycles and other types of vehicular
toys. The center section of the deck lifts and lowers via a pair of hydraulic rams that are
controlled by a remote handheld switch. The lift has a capacity of 1,800 pounds and the
motion is straight up and down, so there is no angled ramp effect to challenge the loading
and off-loading process. Safety is provided by a switch that halts movement if the button
is released, as well as a locking-pin system to secure the deck after it is raised to the
up position. Gross dry weight, as claimed by the manufacturer, is 8,040 pounds. Gross
vehicle weight rating (gvwr) is 10,800 pounds, leaving a working payload of a bit over
2,200 pounds to be split among your interior cargo, and up to 1,800 pounds of machinery on
the patio floor. Adventure Manufacturing, (765) 475-9500, adventuremfg.com
