Thor America Introduces SkyDeck Fifth-Wheel

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

“The Thor America subsidiary of Thor Industries Inc. thinks the SkyDeck fifth-wheel will be
the most important innovation since slideouts and basement storage,” said Bill Bruce, sales
and marketing manager for the product. Introduced at the Louisville, Kentucky, National RV
Trade Show in late 2001, the SkyDeck features a patented rooftop deck, complete with a wet
bar, barbecue grill and cushioned seating for 8-12 people. The deck, which is accessible
via residential stairs from inside the trailer, dramatically expands entertainment options
for RVers who enjoy racing events, tailgating and other outdoor activities. Yet the
addition of the SkyDeck retains the low profile of Thor’s travel trailers and fifth-wheels,
extending no higher than the rooftop air-conditioning units. The SkyDeck is available in
five floorplans on travel trailers, fifth-wheels and sport-utility trailers ranging from
28-34 feet in length. Features include automatic-raising safety rails, a king-size sun
lounger, and one or two slideouts in the lower level for additional living space. Other
options include a dining-coffee table, outdoor speakers, carpeting, storage bins, outdoor
lighting and electrical outlet panel. The SkyDeck, which is expected to retail for $39,500
to $58,750, will begin shipping in the first quarter of this year. SkyDeck fifth-wheels and
travel trailers will be available at dealers nationwide. Thor America is based in
Middleburg, Pennsylvania; www.thoramerica-rv.com
