Space Camp

there is only so much one can do with an 8- or 9-foot area. However, upon entering the
Lance 992, I often had to remind myself that I was in a camper and not a travel trailer.
Residential-style amenities and comfort abound and, with the exception of the requisite
stooping to enter the master bed area, headroom was a non-issue. Construction starts with
aluminum frames, from floor to ceiling, with block-foam insulation throughout. A one-piece
TPO roof, along with the laminated fiberglass skin, keeps the lines looking sleek. An
aluminum rear bumper and deluxe bumper trim add to the solid feel of the camper. Overall,
the 992 offers a welcome retreat when things move inside. A streetside wet-bath arrangement
makes great use of the space. Curbside, the dinette seats four and converts into a fairly
comfortable sleeping area. To me, the well-appointed galley is the real star of the 992.
When the slide is deployed, an additional 15 inches of countertop — plus storage — is
revealed. The three-burner stove, the microwave and the oven all worked as advertised.
Across the way, the 6-cubic-foot refrigerator swallowed our perishables admirably, and the
three-way power source (12-volt DC, 120-volt AC and LP-gas) provides additional
convenience). A step up into the bedroom area reveals ample closet space for hanging
clothes behind a mirrored wardrobe door. The queen innerspring mattress with a pillowtop
was comfortable enough for two. A folding privacy door can be deployed to separate the
bedroom from the rest of the camper. The Lance 992 is pricey, yes, but with dual slideouts,
a well-designed galley and thoughtful amenities, it should appeal to the seasoned RVer that
doesn’t mind spending a few extra bucks for improved quality and appointments. Pick up the
