Slight Drop in New RVs Predicted

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

A recent report by University of Michigan economist Richard Curtin offers predictions for
the RV industry this year. Curtin predicts a mild 2.5 percent drop in the number of new
RVs, compared to last year when 360,800 units were built. That would be 12.7 percent higher
than in 2003, which was the second-best year in the RV industry since 1979. Curtin also
sees a slight drop in 2005 RV shipments, which primarily will be on the motorhome side.
Higher interest rates may be responsible for keeping RV sales below 2004’s record level.
