See Ya! 316

Expansive frontal viewing is now a reality, as Alfa Leisure debuts its 2005 See Ya!
fifth-wheels. This unique feature is an aerodynamic fiberglass front awning that serves as
a rock guard while traveling and can be raised when parked to reveal a forward-facing
picture window serving the master bedroom. Alfa offers seven floorplans, ranging in lengths
from 31 to 39 feet, in this revamped lineup. And holding true to its “reinvention of the
fifth-wheel theme,” the manufacturer has built in an abundance of value, usability and
residential comfort. “We took what we learned in designing our popular line of See Ya!
motorhomes and applied it to our fifth-wheels,” explained Johnnie R. Crean, Alfa Leisure’s
founder and chairman of the board. “As one of the most innovative units to be launched, we
threw away conventional design. We literally reinvented this product from the ground up,
with features never before seen on a coach of this type.” Model 316 is a prime example of
what the See Ya! line has to offer. Its forward master bedroom floor has no step, instead
using a ramped floor to the leading edge. Maximum headroom up front and in the bathroom is
6 feet, 6 inches, with a curbside mid-coach galley, dining opposite and rear living-room
area rounding out the floorplan. The unit also has generous amounts of open floor space and
storage, in part because of the streetside lounge slideout that’s the tallest and deepest
available according to the company (4 feet, 8 inches deep x 6 feet, 6 inches high), and a
forward bedroom slide housing a large wardrobe. The new model has a gross vehicle weight
rating (gvwr) of 13,920 pounds, placing it within the towing capacity of many of today’s
appropriately outfitted pickup trucks. Construction of the See Ya! is robust, and is based
on Alfa’s redesigned SpaceMaster II chassis with 21-inch C-section main rails, with 9
inches in added height from previous models. This taller-than-average platform supports an
extruded aluminum upper superstructure, with 2 3/8-inch thick Vacu-bonded walls, a gelcoat
fiberglass outer skin and a one-piece EPDM rubber roof. The added chassis height allows
components to be placed conveniently around the outside edges of the coach, creating a
100-cubic-foot basement trunk and additional perimeter storage bays. Approximate cargo
capacity totals 2,020 pounds. Larger, cumbersome LP-gas cylinders have now been replaced
with three 5-gallon models that can be easily removed and exchanged at gas stations and
convenience stores. Besides the usual standard amenities expected in a mid-priced
fifth-wheel and those mentioned above, Alfa has included many more. Prominent among these
are a 32-inch television in the living room, a 19-inch set in the bedroom, home-theater and
DVD systems and a 27,000-BTU basement air conditioner and heat pump. Alfa Leisure, Inc.,
