For many RVers, the decision to purchase a fifth-wheel or travel trailer can be a difficult one. Fifth-wheels provide welcome space and luxury features, while travel trailers can be towed by more vehicles and are often more affordable.
Komfort Corporation makes deciding on your next trailer easier with its model 277TS travel trailer. With an exterior length of more than 30 feet, it has plenty of living space, but with a dry weight of a little more than 7,000 pounds and a 10,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating (gvwr), it can be towed by many half-ton pickups. The 277TS is a new model in the company’s flagship Komfort line, which now totals 20 floorplans.
“The 277TS is an enhancement of one of our best sellers, the 271TS,” explains Tim Stewart, Southwest assistant sales manager. “The bedroom features a true residential-size queen bed, plus a wardrobe slideout with seven drawers and adjustable storage. Plus, the bathroom is what you would typically find in a fifth-wheel, with a large shower and a private toilet room with a porcelain commode.”
The 277TS is also somewhat unusual in that it features a roomy forward kitchen with a standard 8-cubic-foot refrigerator, a three-burner range, a double-bowl acrylic sink and a pantry. A large streetside slideout houses a fixed dinette as well as a 72-inch sofa (sofa bed optional), and across from that is a TV shelf and a rocker chair. Elsewhere, highlights include a DVD/AM/FM/CD stereo surround-sound system, a water-filtration system, day-night shades, a DSI 10-gallon water heater and solar-panel pre-wiring.
In celebration of the company’s 40th year in business, all 2007 Komfort floorplans incorporate the Komfort 40th Anniversary Value Package, which bundles a 13,500-BTU air conditioner, a deluxe patio awning, a microwave oven, stabilizer jacks, shock absorbers, E-Z Lube axles, a black-tank flush system and other details. More than the sum of their features, Komfort trailers are built with the stuff seasoned RVers appreciate, according to the company.
“The welded-aluminum frame is a big feature of this trailer,” says Chris Hadfield, northwest assistant sales manager. “A lot of manufacturers talk about their aluminum framing, but it’s just partial. Ours is six-sided, welded-aluminum framing – and our wall studs are 16 inches on center, just like your home. If you get stuck in a storm, this trailer will bear the snow loads.”
And speaking of snow, Komfort trailers also include a Thermal Max-Pack All-Weather Package, which consists of enclosed and heated holding tanks and manufacturer-specified R21 insulation in the floor, R14 in the roof, and R7 in the walls. A gloss gel-coat fiberglass exterior and one-piece molded front fiberglass cap round out the construction details. Options include an outside barbecue, rocker-chair upgrades, 13- and 19-inch televisions and dark-tint thermal-pane windows.
