RV Industry Rallies Behind Alaska Couple

The RV industry is providing support to an Alaska couple who were profiled on the CBS News
Early Show in May. Theodora Tyler of Anchorage, diagnosed with terminal cancer, was told
she has about a year to live. Her husband, Robert, a truck driver, wanted to take her on a
cross-country trip so that she could see many of the sights he has experienced during his
years on the road. The couple, however, was unable to afford such a journey until three RV
industry firms — Gulf Stream Coach Inc., the Good Sam Club and Kampgrounds of America
(KOA) — stepped in. Gulf Stream has provided the Tylers with one of its Independence
diesel pushers for five months, while the Good Sam Club covers RV-insurance expenses and
provides roadside assistance if needed. KOA gave the Tylers a VIP card that allows them to
stay for free at any KOA campgrounds. Exxon Mobil also donated $20,000 worth of diesel
fuel.
