To benefit the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention and Care in Harlem, New York,
designer Ralph Lauren has updated and styled four Airstreams around four themes: Western,
Nautical, Adirondack and Utility/Surplus. In the 14-foot Western-themed Bambi, the
honey-colored knotty-pine interior, trimmed in 100-year-old barn wood, is the perfect
setting in which to slide off your boots and lean back in the leather-cushioned bull-horn
armchair. The switch plates, doorknobs, handles and drawer pulls are all handcrafted by
Montana master blacksmith Will Wilkins. The silver details have been added by
third-generation Navajo silversmith Dee Morris. Inspired by old-time luxury liners, the
Nautical trailer sports mahogany wainscoting and flooring, a seaworthy library and
nickel-plated lamps salvaged from an old yacht. The two other models are equally well
appointed to evoke their particular design schemes. Target price is $150,000 each.
Airstream Inc. is located in Jackson Center, Ohio.
