For the past few months, vehicle manufacturers have faced steep drops in sales. However,
review of August sales provided some good news with midsize and large-pickup truck sales
showing considerable increases over July, due to dropping fuel prices. Leaders in the
midsize truck category were the Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger; Nissan’s Frontier and
Honda’s Ridgeline also rose considerably. Among full-size trucks, Chevrolet’s Silverado was
not only was this the leading pickup but also the No. 1 selling vehicle in total sales,
above Toyota’s Camry.
