General Motors’ OnStar has announced it will offer turn-by-turn navigation later this year
with its in-car navigation systems. With the new system, OnStar advisors will send
instructions through the network to the vehicle, which will then play the voice commands
through the stereo. A small display on the instrument cluster also can be used to relay
text directions. Certain Buick and Cadillac models will first offer the technology. GM
expects one million cars to be capable of the system in the 2007 model year. No price has
been announced.
