General Motors announced that the 2004 model year will be the last for Oldsmobile, ending
the 104-year-old brand. GM spent almost $5 billion to rejuvenate the Oldsmobile line during
the last six years to appeal to younger buyers. Last year, Oldsmobile sales dropped to
289,172, the lowest since 1952, although it was a record year for overall auto sales.
