Ford is considering keeping the Excursion in its lineup past the 2004 model year, though
the company had anticipated shutting down production of the model.
Industry sources report
that incentives and the improved diesel-engine option caused Ford to reconsider.
Ford may
continue the Excursion for two more years, before it is finally replaced in 2006 by a
stretched version of the Expedition sport-utility vehicle.
