Mercedes-Benz’ seven-passenger GL-320 SUV, equipped with a 3.0-liter CDI diesel engine,
will go on sale in the United States early next year. It will only meet emissions rules in
45 states and will be unavailable in California and New York.
The GL 320 CDI diesel is
rated almost 24 highway mpg, compared to the 18 mpg for the GL 450 gas version. The diesel
feeds its 376 lb-ft of peak torque into a seven-speed automatic transmission and is rated
to tow 7,700 pounds.
