DaimlerChrylser and Cummins have extended a supply agreement for the 5.9-liter,
six-cylinder diesel engine used in the Dodge Ram heavy-duty pickup truck. Although the
original contract ran through 2007, the length of the extension wasn’t announced.
The
trucks are able to meet current emissions standards without any after-treatment devices,
but are expected to need them to comply with more stringent rules due in 2007.
