Michelin’s PAX run-flat tire system has made its mass-market debut on Honda’s 2005 Odyssey
Touring Edition. The run-flat tire, which is now standard equipment on the Honda Odyssey
Touring Edition, can be driven up to 125 miles at 55 mph.
It is an assembly of four
components: tire, support ring, wheel, and pressure monitor. Michelin claims PAX also
offers better handling than standard tires for everyday driving and better comfort than
traditional self-supporting tires. The design means the tire will not unseat from the rim
in normal operating conditions, even after a total loss of air pressure.
