Lofty Expectations

Adventure Manufacturing offers a true room with a view in the Timberlodge 30 SKYCE. The
travel trailer features a loft at the aft end of the trailer, with an overlook that gives a
classic loft-style view of the living room and kitchen area below. The loft doesn’t have
the headroom for standing up and walking around, but it does dramatically expand sleeping
space that will appeal to RV families with lots of kids, or just kids who want to live at a
different level. With this trailer, you have a master bedroom with a queen island bed, a
convertible sofa, a dinette that transforms into a bed and the loft. Bring a crowd. The
loft is above the bathroom, with access via a ladder that leads up through a hatchway. The
loft steps pivot back and the lower bunk lifts up for room to put the kid’s bikes, or other
large items through the extra large cargo door. The high ceiling that accommodates the
upstairs room extends over the main living quarters as well, creating a spacious vaulted
ceiling effect. All this altitude results in an overall height that is taller than most
travel trailers but, at 12 feet 6 inches, it still isn’t as tall as some large
fifth-wheels. Nevertheless, the driver needs to be aware of vertical clearance. We asked
Jerry Sell, Adventure Manufacturing’s director of sales, to give us his vision about how
this trailer fits into the market. “The 30SKY is actually a very functional trailer. Having
the loft is like getting the living space of a 39-foot trailer. It doesn’t really weigh any
more than a regular bunkhouse trailer, but you get the added benefit of the open feeling of
the vaulted ceiling, and the kids love having their own space up above.” But there’s more
to this trailer than the loft. The galley features pullout Euro-style wire baskets and a
built-in trash can. The bathroom has a big tub with surround, a china-bowl foot-flush
toilet with a conventional seat, and a linen closet. The master bedroom has cut-glass
reading lights, nightstands on each side of the bed, a flip-up TV shelf and a laundry
chute. The trailer comes standard with a DVD surround-sound system, and the entertainment
center is positioned so the kids can lie in their loft and watch television, or they can
plug their own TV into the outlet in their loft. Outside the trailer, the entry steps can
be adjusted for height, and a switch in the galley area activates the awning patio light
outlet up by the rear awning arm. Beneath the awning is a TV outlet and a swing-out grab
bar at the door. In the short time since its introduction, the Timberlodge 30 SKYCE has
stirred quite a bit of interest. According to Sell, “Not only is the 30SKY a novel idea in
space usage, but it is designed to be the most functional family camper on the road today.”
