Large Vans Prone to Tire Hazards

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that 15-passenger versions
of the largest vans from Ford and General Motors are most susceptible to tire issues and
rollover accidents.

NHTSA reports that up to 74 percent of all 15-passenger vans may have
incorrectly inflated tires. That compares to 38 percent of passenger cars that are
estimated to have incorrectly inflated tires. The agency also reports that these large
passenger vans are more often involved in rollover accidents than other vehicles because
their tires more often are inflated improperly.

GM and Ford both have announced that their
large vans will have stability control in the next three years.
