A diesel engine may be offered in Jeep Grand Cherokees early next year. The engine, which
will be shared with Mercedes-Benz, is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 with common-rail fuel
injection.
Jeep estimates fuel economy to be 30 percent better than gasoline versions, with
a driving range of 425 miles compared to 300 miles for the current model.
Tow ratings may
also be increased, although no official information has been released.
