Jayco Enters Entry-Level Towables Competition

Originally Published in Trailer Life Magazine

Jayco Inc., Middlebury, Indiana, has introduced its Jay Flight series of “no-frills” travel
trailers and fifth-wheels. “We are aggressively targeting the entry-level market with a
product that still reflects Jayco’s commitment to superior construction and value,” said
Sid Johnson, director of sales and marketing. The inaugural model year 2002 Jay Flight
includes six travel trailers from 24 feet to 31 feet long, and two fifth-wheel models,
ranging from 25 feet to 30 feet. Both fifth-wheel models and two of the travel trailers are
equipped with slideouts, extending the dinette area and Jayco’s exclusive J-Steel
convertible sofa. Structural features that differentiate the Jay Flight from other
entry-level towables include an I-beam frame similar to construction used in the housing
industry. Other upgrades include a Thermoplastic Polyolefins (TPO) roof, for protection
against tears and weather damage, and tongue-and groove-plywood flooring.
