General Motors has confirmed that Hummer will introduce a new midsize H3 for the 2006 model
year. The new model, which will ride on Chevy Colorado mechanical components, will be
powered by a similar 3.5-liter five-cylinder engine. Buyers will have a choice of manual or
automatic transmissions, along with electronically controlled four-wheel drive, traction
and stability control.
For 2006, Hummer also will introduce an H1 Alpha, which will have a
6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel engine that is popular with trailerists. It will offer more
power and higher fuel economy than current H1s and should be better suited for towing.
