This illustration shows a handy device I made from “junk” to make it easy to hook up to my trailer.
The mirror is attached to a steel rod, which is then inserted into PVC pipes, and a fitting which will slide over the trailer-jack housing.
I placed a strip of white tape on the top-center of the tailgate. Using the inside rearview mirror, I line up the tape with the pipe as I back in. When the ball comes in view, it’s simply a mater of stopping when the ball passes under the coupler.
