Hi-Lo Classic 2505C

It’s one of the paradoxes of RVing: Sometimes the very features you like about your trailer
when it is parked at a campground can take all the fun out of it when it’s time to hit the
road. Loads of features and storage capacity make for added weight. High ceilings mean a
larger profile that can sap fuel economy and cause spooky handling in gusty winds. Hi-Lo
Trailer Company is well aware of the travel/camping comfort quotient that many RVers face.
In fact, the company has made a name for itself by providing what many consider to be the
best of all worlds: full-size, hard-side towables that collapse for a low profile when
towing, and telescope to full-size when it’s time to set up camp. Recently, Hi-Lo took it
one step further with its 2505C — a new floorplan complete with the company’s
Expand-A-Room tip-out room for added living space. As Larry Mills, vice president of sales
for Hi-Lo explains, a tilt-out room differs from a slideout in that it literally tips out
of the main structure, requiring no slideout mechanism to deploy. “It’s a system
traditionally used in trailer-park models,” Mills says, “but Hi-Lo is the only company that
can utilize it in a travel trailer by virtue of our telescoping design.” In a park trailer,
says Mills, a tilt-out room leaves a gap in the trailer wall when the room is stowed for
travel, requiring plastic sheeting to protect the interior from the elements during
transport. Obviously, this would not be desirable in a travel trailer — but because of the
Hi-Lo trailer’s design, the gap is automatically covered and sealed when the unit is
lowered for travel. According to Mills, the 2505C was built for those who want a high-end
product, but enjoy hitting the road and traveling more than parking and staying in one spot
for long periods of time. Such customers, he says, will appreciate the increased fuel
economy and towing manners delivered by the 2505C. “It is the safest trailer to tow for two
reasons,” he says. “One, because the center of gravity is so low, it is very stable. Two,
the low sail area prevents it from being blown around.” Inside, the 2505C doesn’t scrimp on
features. There’s a large 8-foot kitchen with your choice of microwave or standard oven,
solid-wood raised-panel cabinet doors, day/night shades, an AM/FM stereo with a CD player,
a Fan-Tastic fan and a TV antenna with booster — all standard. Equipment-wise, the 2505 C
features a power A-frame jack, stabilizer jacks, two 7-gallon LP-gas cylinders, a solar
panel and a 120-volt AC/LP-gas DSI water heater. Guests are welcome, too — the 2505C can
sleep four standard, or six with a no-cost optional overhead bunk. Additional optional
