For 2005, the redesigned Grand Cherokee SUV will offer the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine rated
at 325 hp as an option, making it the most powerful engine ever available in this model.
The Hemi will feature a Multi-Displacement System that shuts off four cylinders when more

last-year’s model will be offered along with the 210-hp 3.7-liter V-6, also found in Jeep’s
Liberty line. A five-speed automatic transmission is standard with all engines. Three
four-wheel-drive systems are available in addition to rear-wheel drive. Quadra-Trac I is a
single-speed full-time four-wheel drive. Quadra-Trac II has an added low-range and
Quadra-Drive II includes electronic limited-slip differentials for optimum off-road
ability. Jeep says the GC will have rack-and-pinion steering and improved suspension for
best-in-class ride and handling. New options include a Boston Acoustics audio system, GPS
navigation, and rear-seat DVD system. Pricing and tow ratings (currently 6,500 pounds max.)
have not been set, but a slight increase in both is expected.
