Chevrolet and GMC full-size vans will offer the 6.6-liter Duramax V-8 turbodiesel as an
option for 2006. The engine is tentatively rated at 250 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.It will
be connected to a new beefier 4L85E Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission and 3.73
axle ratio. Fuel-economy averages of around 20 mpg solo are expected for the new models.
They also get a slew of other upgrades for durability and convenience. Maximum tow ratings
will be 10,000 pounds.
