General Motors Corporation plans to close down the production of Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC
Topkick medium-duty trucks by July 31. Since filing for bankruptcy protection July 1, GM
has been unable to sell the operation. About 400 hourly and salaried workers are involved
in the production of the medium-duty trucks at the Flint plant in Michigan, which has more
than 2,100 employees overall and also builds light pickup trucks for GM. The company plans
to continue its production of pickup trucks at the plant.
