General Motors is recalling more than one-half million 1997-2001 Chevrolet Venture,
Oldsmobile Silhouette and Pontiac Trans Sport/Montana minivans for power sliding door
problems. Some of the minivans may have an actuator that could jam in the unlatched
position. This may leave the door in an unlatched state and, under certain operating
conditions, it may open. There have been no reported accidents or injuries resulting from
the door problem. GM dealers will perform the recall for free to owners. The recall is the
seventh for the minivans in the past four years.
