GM, Ford Gain Consumer Satisfaction

A new University of Michigan survey called the “American Customer Satisfaction Index” found
that U.S. automakers are improving quality and gaining in the consumer satisfaction
indexes.

The UM study asked consumers whether vehicles met their expectations and how they
ranked among competing brands in the same class. Lexus was a the top in consumer satisfaction
with a score of 87 points (on a scale of 100 points), but Ford’s Lincoln/Mercury, Buick,
Cadillac and BMW were only one point behind with a score of 86, tied for second place.
While Toyota and Honda finished at or near the top of the CSI list, Chrysler, Jeep and
Dodge did poorly, ranking near the bottom, with Jeep last at 75.
