In response to critics of its plans to eliminate the brand, on December 21 General Motors
extended its standard warranty on Oldsmobile vehicles. GM will raise its
three-year/36,000-mile warranty to five years or 60,000 miles for all 2000 and 2001
Oldsmobile models and the 2002 Bravada. GM also has announced it will give current
Oldsmobile owners coupons for $1,500 off the purchase or lease of a new Oldsmobile or
$1,000 off any other GM vehicle. The extended plan covers parts including the engine,
transmission, drive assemblies, brakes and suspension; and fuel, cooling, electrical,
computer and steering systems. Customers pay no deductible.
