Fuel prices rose sharply nationwide the first week of April as the national average for
regular self-serve gas hit $2.60 per gallon, which was nine cents higher than the previous
week.
The Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch predicts the average
price could reach $3 per gallon by the end of April. The average price of self-serve
regular gasoline in Los Angeles was up to $2.842, up 32 cents from last month and 35 cents
more than last year. In Texas, the statewide average for a gallon of regular self-serve gas
rose 11 cents in one week to $2.59, reports the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
