The price of gasoline has dropped slightly. Last week the price of a gallon of unleaded
regular gas averaged $1.44, according to the Department of Energy, almost a cent lower than
the previous week.
As usual, the West had the most expensive gasoline at $1.52 a gallon,
while the southeastern Atlantic states had the lowest, at about $1.37 a gallon. Gas prices
are averaging approximately 26 cents more per gallon than the same time last year, in part
due to tensions in the Middle East.
